My time at Telkom University Corporate Campus, culminating in a Master’s degree in Business Management in 2024, provided the core academic framework for my career in research. A significant milestone of this journey was being selected for the highly competitive KNB Scholarship. This opportunity fully funded my three years of study and allowed me to engage deeply with Telkom University’s academic environment. Supported closely by the International Office, the university provided consistent exposure to a diverse network of international peers, faculty, and scholars. This environment was crucial in teaching me how to systematically build professional relationships and collaborative networks within the global research community. Beyond institutional resources, the high quality of mentorship was central to my development. Professor Ratna Lindawati provided invaluable academic guidance during critical career decisions, offering the balanced perspective of both a trusted advisor and a friend. Ultimately, the rigorous preparation and institutional support I received at Telkom University directly enabled me to secure full Ph.D. funding in Management Sustainability at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (Institute of Management) in Italy. I am proud to represent Telkom University as an alumnus and highly value the foundation it established for my ongoing academic career.

Looking back, Telkom University played a significant role in shaping who I am today. Beyond the classroom, I was fortunate to be actively involved in research projects, innovation competitions, student organizations, and laboratory activities, while graduating as the Most Outstanding Graduate of my cohort. These experiences sparked my passion for engineering and research, while also developing my leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. They gave me the confidence to pursue higher education abroad, eventually earning a PhD and continuing my journey as a postdoctoral researcher. I will always be grateful to Telkom University for providing the strong foundation that made all of this possible.

When I moved from The Gambia to Indonesia, I thought I was just chasing a degree, but instead I found a launchpad. What changed everything for me at Telkom University was the trust they place in international students because my education went far beyond the lecture hall. I was given opportunities to lead student organizations, present my research, speak on international stages, and represent both my university and my country in national and international competitions. Being named an Outstanding Graduate was proof that the university actually invests in your potential and pushes you beyond what you think you can achieve. Today, the confidence to navigate global platforms, pursue opportunities around the world, and make a real impact comes directly from those experiences. Telkom University challenged me to grow, encouraged me to dream bigger, and prepared me for every opportunity that has come my way.

Among 6 universities in Indonesia that I know, only Telkom University has international buddy club (which helps international students). They did more than help, I would call …they do care about us. I do appreciate it very much! Everybody is friendly and humorous. I hope our IOSBC will become pioneer for other universities so that we can exchange and share information, experience.
